Figure 3 mRNA expression of cytokines in mice skin after EC exposure to OVA or saline. Real-time quantitative RT-PCR was used to analyze the mRNA expression levels. IL-6 and IL-1β mRNA levels were significantly increased in OVA-sensitized WT mice compared with OVA-sensitized Smad3−/− mice. The levels of IL-4, IFN-γ, and TNF-α mRNA were significantly higher in OVA-sensitized mice compared with saline group, but no significant difference between Smad3−/− and WT mice was detected.
