Warm-Up Read and annotate “The Trees.” On the back, answer these questions: How is the world of “The Trees” a dystopia? Connect “The Trees” to a historical or current event. Explain. Connect “The Trees” to “The Giver.” Explain.

“The Giver” Summarizer: #2: How do you think life will be different for the community now that they have memories back? Explain – in detail – at least three things that you think will change, and why. Reflection Paragraph: In one well-developed paragraph (6-8 sentences) with plenty of supporting details, explain how “The Giver” is a dystopian text, and make sure you include your understanding of what the story is warning us about.
