Coming to North America: Canadian Connection What’s going on in North America during the time period of the trans-Atlantic trade in African peoples? Canada was not a country yet (not til 1867)…so it was held by British and French (depending on the area) “New France” and “British North America” would include parts of Canada as we now know it
