When to use “so” and “such” We use 'so' and 'such' to add emphasis.  It's cold today. It's so cold today. 

He’s a tall man He’s such a tall man

But when do we use “so” and when “such”? Let’s see if you can figure it out: She’s so nice She’s such a nice person Today is so hot Today is such a hot day He is so intelligent He is such an intelligent guy Got it?

But when do we use “so” and when “such”? Let’s see the sentences again: She’s so nice (so + adjective) She’s such a nice person (such + a + adj. + noun) Today is so hot (so + adjective) Today is such a hot day (such + a + adj. + noun) He is so intelligent (so + adjective) He is such an intelligent guy (such + a + adj. + noun) What’s the difference?
