Class Vision and Mission Vision: Develop knowledge and skills you need to succeed on the ACT in order to get where you want to go. Mission: Each student will increase ACT score by at least 2 points by the end of the semester.

2/3/17 Do Now Volume 1 Complete Sentences What was your original English Score? What is your goal English Score? What percentage of questions must you get correct to earn your goal score? How many questions must you get correct to earn your goal score?

2/3/17 Exit Ticket - Volume 2 Complete Sentences Same Page as Do Now How much did you grow from your original English score to your English score today? What specific steps explain your growth? What specific steps could you have taken to grow more? What specific topics do you need support on as individual moving forward? What could Mr. Brocato have done to ensure your score grew even more?

Essential Question: How will the ACT impact my options after high school? (1st Period)

Test Review Look at your scores. Did you improve from the beginning of the year? Did you meet your personal goal? Are you on track to being college ready?

Minimum Requirements for Louisiana Public Colleges/Universities Math: You must have a 19 English: You must have an 18 Our School Goal is: Graduating Seniors will earn an average of a 19 with 70% of the students earning at least an 18.

Are you college ready? The Benchmarks are scores on the ACT subject-area tests that represent the level of achievement required for students to have a 50% chance of obtaining a B or higher or about a 75% chance of obtaining a C or higher in corresponding credit-bearing first-year college courses. Graduation 11th Grade 10th Grade 9th Grade English 18 16 15 14 Math 22 20 17 Reading Science 23 21 19 Composite

TOPS There are 4 levels of TOPS. At each level you get more $$$$$! Minimum ACT scores (combined with GPA requirements): TOPS Tech-17 (only applies to junior/community colleges) TOPS Opportunity-20 TOPS Performance-23 TOPS Honors-27

The ACT and Clearinghouse The NCAA Clearinghouse uses a sliding scale between GPA and ACT to determine eligibility. This means the one can help balance out the others. Examples: If you have a 2.5 GPA you must have an average of a 17 on all sections of the ACT If you have a 2.3 GPA you must have an average of a 19 on all sections of the ACT

Exit Ticket: Looking at your ACT Score Report and reflecting on the passage and our discussion: What topic do you need most support on? Which difficulty is the biggest difficulty to you? Why? What solution do you think could help you the most? Why?
