Hints About High School Your Grades Matter Top 10 % automatic acceptance into a Texas public university- (UT is 6%) Colleges/scholarships care about what quartile Challenge Yourself Follow your degree plan When in doubt, take a CTE course ( Ag, FCS, Business, A&P) Try something NEW Start Thinking College Grades matter! Visit Colleges- On vacation, or online, and especially junior and senior year
Attendance Counts in ALL Periods!!!!! If you miss too many class periods, you will not earn credit for the course! Extracurricular absences – 15 allowed…after that they count as excused absences! **See Attendance Reminders Portion in Packet**
Things I’ve learned in High School… Art can wait- Especially if you are not taking athletics past 9th Grade If you are showing for FFA, you need to take an Ag class (Prin of Ag) Get involved in an organization – some organizations have dues The A/B Day schedules makes the day go FAST!!!!! GET YOUR MAKE-UP WORK- Teachers love GOOD communication Keep up with community service- NHS is right around the corner Break is AWESOME! Debate & Oral Interpretation count as speech “credit”. Principles of AG now counts as a speech “credit”. But…speech is also a great class to get that “credit”!
