Read a student example essay and evaluate. Tuesday: Writing 7B: Read a student example essay and evaluate. You’ll be writing a similar essay on a given prompt. First, write your thesis. Remember! A is B because of X, Y, & Z. Ex: Homework should be eliminated because it takes away from family time, it causes unnecessary stress, and it doesn’t accurately assess student knowledge. Next, write your outline. Finally, write your essay. This essay is TIMED. Your outline and finished rough draft is due by the end of the period.

Wednesday: Test Corrections 15-20 minutes (use your time wisely!): Corrections! Write your corrections next to it and HIGHLIGHT the number so I know to check it again. Do not write with your highlighter. For each question you get correct, you will receive ½ credit. NO TALKING! Just like a normal test, I will take points off if you talk or your eyes wander. Raise your hand and I’ll collect it when you’re done. After I’ve collected your test work on late work or read silently. 7B: When you’re done, Finish your essay. 7A: When you’re done, read silently.
Wednesday Writing/Editing/Revising 7B: Ask one person to read your essay & fill out editor’s check list. Editors: BE SPECIFIC AND CRITICAL! Make edits to their paper if you can. OR underline sentences that “sound” Rewrite your essay making revisions & edits as you go. Write NICELY! Hand in: 2nd draft on top, then editor’s check list, and finally your 1st draft all marked up. Due tomorrow what you don’t get done in class: Rewrite your essay using your own critical eye and your editor’s check list.
