WARM-UP Today we are taking the common assessment. You need the following on your desk: Notebook paper (1-2 pieces) #2 pencil Pen, if you want to write in pen On your post-it note, please write down THREE TEST-TAKING STRATEGIES that you know of. Be prepared to discuss them.

COMMON ASSESSMENT #1 = Baseline. Grade goes in Synergy, but is weighted zero. This helps me see what you know and what I need to teach you. #2 = 6-week. You get two grades in Synergy. One of them counts (5%) and is only based on the questions that we have covered in class (I’ve taught you these skills). The second is for the whole test but is weighted zero. #3 = 12-week. Same as #2, except more questions count this time. #4 = Final Exam. The whole test counts, and it’s worth 20% of your grade. It can make or break you!

TODAY’s test Multiple Choice: Answer all 40 multiple choice questions. Take your time! Use all the testing skills you know. There is no rush, and it is very important that you do your best. Again, this helps me determine what I really need to focus on and will also help me give you assignments that really help you on the next three tests. Writing: You do have a writing section (this is English class, after all….) and YES, it does count! The writing prompt is on the board and we’ll go over it in a minute.

EXIT Slip 3- What would you say are 3 strengths/areas of the common assessment that you know WELL? 2- What would you say are 2 weaknesses/areas of the common assessment that you need to work on? 1- What’s one thing you really want me to explain/cover in class?
