Presentation transcript:

Use this presentation to introduce parents to EasyPeasy during an induction day workshop or even a dedicated EasyPeasy launch. It includes presenter notes, as well as two EasyPeasy games and videos that you can play for parents, provided you have an internet connection. You might want to make this part of the presentation interactive by asking parents to come in with their children and play the games together, and then talk about the skills and interactions that were practised. -In this slide: explain to your parents that you are excited to introduce a new programme called EasyPeasy, available to all families in the early years in your setting. This presentation will go on to explain how it works.

Help your child develop the skills they’ll need for school, and beyond! You are invited to join EasyPeasy, a free 20 week programme of fun, simple game and activity ideas to play with your child. They fit easily into your daily routine, so that every moment - from the school run, to bedtime and bath time - becomes an opportunity to learn through play. -In this slide: read the slide out loud to highlight the benefits of EasyPeasy and the purpose of the programme.

How does it work? Receive a text message with a link No need to download anything on your phone; It’s EasyPeasy! Learn how to play Watch the video and read the rules of the game on your mobile phone. Get a new game every Saturday Play, practice and improve throughout the week! Share your experience with us! Write a comment to let us know how it went! -In this slide: outline the fun and simple process so parents know what to expect.

Did you know as a parent or primary carer, you are the biggest influence on your child’s development!? In the early years, children learn through playing and interacting with the people and environments around them. The more opportunities they have to communicate, interact, and experiment, the more they will thrive and develop important skills from speaking and listening, focusing attention and managing emotions, to building determination and confidence. Playing is serious business! -In this slide: read the slide out loud to highlight the importance of play to your parents

Tower of Hands 1 Show your child how to build a tower of hands by putting one hand on top of another. Together with your child make a hand tower that moves up and down. Introduce numbers by instructing your child to build up and down by different numbers of hands. Make the tower go higher and higher so that your child has to reach up as far as possible. 2 3 4 Watch here: https://wi.st/2yigkS4 -In this slide: explain to your parents that you’re going to play one of the EasyPeasy videos showing a real family playing in their home. ask the parents to think about which skills are being practised as they play the game. https://easypeasyapp.wistia.com/medias/0qkm8vdd7m Can you think which skills are being practised here?

I am, she is 1 Explain that you are going to play a game where you will think about how you compare with each other. For each question you ask, they need to respond at the same time either ‘I am’ or ‘she is’. For example, ‘who’s taller?’ - ‘I am’; ‘who’s older?’ - ‘she is’. If both people answer ‘I am’ you have to battle it out together and decide - maybe it will be a tie-break! 2 3 Watch here: https://wi.st/2kroBxS -In this slide: explain to your parents that you’re going to play one of the EasyPeasy videos showing a real family playing in their home. ask the parents to think about which skills are being practised as they play the game. https://easypeasyapp.wistia.com/medias/tznttpit4z This one is for playing with more than two children, or the whole family!

Parents share their tips with each other... This really helped my son to learn how to take turns. He now loves turn-taking! My children loved this game! We played as a whole family, involving big brother and little sister! We sat on the floor and built a tower with our feet, by putting them on top of each other. -In this slide: within your Pod, parents have the ability to add comments about each game after they have played them. Read out these examples of parents’ comments, and invite your parents to share observations, celebrations and extra ideas about their play moments once they have started EasyPeasy.

Your 20 weeks of play will start when you receive your first free text message from EasyPeasy -In this slide: get parents excited about the start of EasyPeasy by communicating them the start date. Explain that parents will receive their text message invite on this date, and then have 20 weeks of games to enjoy with their child/children!

EasyPeasy will support your child to... Speak more confidently! Spend quality time with you! Share more with siblings! Find out more about EasyPeasy’s impact on over 10,000 families at: Listen to instructions more frequently! www.easypeasyapp.com/impact -In this slide: outline some of the ways that EasyPeasy is proven to support families across England, and add your own ideas about how playing at home can support your families. Well done! We hope your parents are excited as we are to get started with their programme. Remember, you can also print and send this presentation home to parents who can’t attend.
