Western Beliefs Quick Write

Prompt/question- What ancient cultures most influenced todays Western governmental & basic human rights belief system? Thesis- Western democratic governmental beliefs and human rights traditions came from the principles from Greece, Rome, & Judeo-Christian influences. For example, Athens, Greece were able to glorify the individual in a democracy where people rule themselves and were able to have a law making body called the legislature to expand the role of the citizen in government. Also, Rome was able to influence the West by… Republic, veto… Senate… checks and balances… so that a republic would keep any individual from gaining too much power.
