Other Testing Acanthosis Screening - done on 1st, 3rd and 5th graders. (the screening is to detect a change in color and texture of the skin on the back of the neck. It is believed that too much insulin in the blood causes growth of darker skin over parts of the body. This can be a pre-diabetic condition and may serve as a indicator of risk for Type 2 diabetes. Scoliosis Screening - done on all 5th graders
