THE FIVE SENSES Mrs.Whitmore CCSD Standard- (3)2.2 use and identify five senses, matching the appropriate body part to each sense.
The Senses. Your five senses play in important role in your daily life. Every moment in your life, you use at least one of your five senses. You touch,
The Senses. Sensory Receptors Sensory receptors = neurons that react directly to stimuli from the environment. – Light, sound, motion, chemicals, pressure.

It's all under control. Getting the message H umans (and all other organisms)need to respond to changes that occur both inside and outside their bodies.
The Senses Vision How do you see? Your eyes respond to the external stimulus of light They convert that stimulus into impulses that your brain then.

Notes – Nervous System 1

1. Nervous System - Gathers information from inside & outside of the body AND then directs your body to respond to the stimulus

2. Sensory Organs Organs that sense the environment: Tongue, eyes, skin, nose, and ears are these

3. Sensory Receptors Found within each organ are receptor cells that receive stimuli from the environment and turn them into electrical impulses

4. Electrical Impulse What you see, feel, hear, taste, and smell all get turned into this by the sensory receptors

5. Electromagnetic stimuli Stimuli that enters the eye as light

6. chemical stimuli Stimuli due to a molecule entering through the mouth for taste or nose for smell

7. mechanical stimuli Stimuli due to touching something and sound waves

8. Brain •Processes the electrical signals sent from each receptor and decides on how to respond to the stimuli
