Bellringer Black nationalists rejected the goals of the civil rights movement in the 1960s because they supported a doctrine that called for blacks completely separating from white society. believed that nonviolent protesting was necessary for achieving racial equality. did not want to associate with the conformity and materialism in American culture. were more concerned with spreading propaganda about whites than gaining equal rights.
