5-4 point-slope form
Point-slope form of a line A line can be written in the form y – y1 = m(x – x1) m = slope (x1, y1) = point on the line
Point-slope form When putting points in point-slope form or taking them out, the signs of x and y will change. y – 7 = 4(x – 9) (-3, 5) m = 6
Examples Write an equation in point-slope form. a) (3,-4) m = 6 b) (4,2) m = - 5 3
Example Write an equation in point-slope form. a) (1,4) (-1, 1) b) (2,4) (-3, -6)
example Graph. a) y + 3 = 2(x – 1) b) y + 5 = - 3 4 (x + 2)
