Bella Experiment Drew McGuire 10/27/14

What type of water breaks off more dry ice? How much dry ice breaks off more when I put it in cold or hot water?

Why I chose this experiment I chose this experiment because i’ve seen a lot of dry ice experiments. I’ve seen some where they fill a sink with it, and the smoke flows everywhere. Dry ice is interesting to me and I want to find out a lot about it.

Hypothesis If I put dry ice in hot water, then more dry ice will break off.

The Variables Independent Hot and cold water Dependent How much dry ice breaks off Constants We will keep the amount of dry ice dropped into the water the same. We will keep the room temperature the same. We will use the same amount of water.

The procedure of the experiment Get a cup of cold and hot water Get 2 pieces of dry ice in that weigh the same amount of grams Drop the 2 pieces in at the same time. Start stop watch for 10 minutes. Take dry ice out at the same time. Put dry ice on scales, measure and record. Dump out water and clean for other projects.
