Task 04 Connor Davey BTEC ICT

I am using Photoshop to create my logo because it is arguably the best software out there to create and edit images. It has a wide range of tools that will help my make my logo presentable

I started on Photoshop by adding a new layer, this was so when I add my 3 boxes I'm able to move them separately

Then I created my first box, using the ‘rounded rectangle’ tool and selected the dark blue colour I drag the shape to the size I wanted Note: I changed my mind from my initial sketch of the logo. I’m using a blue colour scheme to coincide with that of the school colour scheme. Instead of the Red, Blue and Yellow boxes I had initially planned

I then proceeded to duplicate this layer three times to provide me with my three blue boxes which will begin to form my logo

Dragging them into the exact positions, following my sketch

When my boxes where in place I used the text tool to add the ‘IAC’ lettering. I’m using this lettering because it is well known by the school and the surrounding area. Used in their promotions and kit markings, ‘IAC’ is a phrase people are familiar with a I'm confident it will not cause any confusion

To stop my logo looking like three boring boxes I wanted to add some effect. I deciding to use the ‘smudge stick’ because it added a darkened paint feel to the boxes that made them looking much more presentable.

I then added another page to begin designing the banner that will contain the ‘Ilfracombe Arts College’ text. I chose the plain one you can see from clipart but I will not be using all of it. Because I want it covering all three boxes I will need to add some folds. I am going to do the folds by hand so I began to chop and change the banner to give me a feel of what the ‘folds’ will look like.

This is my design with the banner taking shape I added three strips of light blue rectangles to the bottom of the three boxes. I then added the text so the public know exactly which school the student belong to when they see it on the uniform. As you can see I added the end of the clipart banner image to the end of the last strip so is gives it a nice flowing effect.

I added the folds I had previously practiced by hand using the ‘Bamboo graphics tablet’ They have a very nice effect on the banner allowing the banner to flow nicely over the three boxes

Here is my completed logo I am satisfied by the final result and believe I've done a good job. In the short time given I've produced something that I feel is up to a satisfactory standard. I saves it as a JPEG because it retains a good quality and can be used with a variety of media.
