Bellringer Explain why oceans are an important influence on the world’s weather.

Bellringer The oceans receive and absorb a large portion of the sun’s energy. This energy raises the temperature of the oceans, which influences the atmosphere. Ocean currents carry warm water to colder areas, affecting local climates.

Bellringer Solar energy evaporates an enormous amount of ocean water, which eventually returns to the Earth as precipitation.
