Accuracy and Precision Friday 9/13/13

overview In science, we need to be able to describe the data we collect The two main terms are accuracy and precision

Two Different Cases—Playing Golf Always hit the ball right by the hole Always hit the ball in the sand pit, but you are consistent

Accuracy Closeness to the “true” or desired value Accurate golf shots would go in the hole, nonaccurate golf shots would go into the trees (like mine  )

Degree to which you consistently get the same result Precision Degree to which you consistently get the same result Hitting the golf ball into the sand pit consistently would have a high level of precision, even if it isn’t accurate. Having good golf shots every once in a while would mean you are not very precise.

Your Job With your table, complete the Accuracy and Precision lab. Send one person up to get the papers and the bingo chips. Try to get it done by the end of the hour!
