The Moon By Miranda and Tabitha Earth’s Moon The Moon By Miranda and Tabitha

Moon’s surface The dark parts you see on the moon are called Maria. They are hardened rocks formed from lava flows that occurred 3-4 billion years ago.

Crater’s are formed when meteoroids hit the Moon. High –lands are the lighter areas on the moon, they are mountains.

Facts About the moon The moon takes 27 days to orbit the Earth. The moon is 4.5 billion years old. As the moon rotates the earth you only see one side all the time so you will never see the other side Looking down from the north pole we would see the moon orbiting counterclockwise from west to east.

Size ,Density & Temperature Size, Density & Temperature the moon is 3,467 kilometers across and It’s temperatures rage from 130c in direct sunlight to a frigid -170c at night.

Cool Facts!!! The second full moon occurring within a calendar month is called a Blue moon. The last one seen was on December 31 , 2009. The Blue Moon occurs every three years on average .

Lunar Halo Lunar Halo. A lunar halo is caused by light d through ice crystals in a cirrus cloud. The six sided crystales refract light at a 22 degree angle.
