Classroom Rules & Procedures: Attendance Attendance: Many projects are completed in class. As such, regular attendance and active participation are important. If a student misses class, it will be his or her responsibility to check objectives and assignments within the calendar on the http://www.robertsonhistory.weebly.com/ and complete and return their assignments to the teacher within one week of the absence. Additional copies will be available in the file box in the classroom. Willowcreek Jr. High attendance policy will be applied.

Classroom Rules & Procedures: Discipline Policy Discipline policy: This course will support the school’s R³ policy, i.e., respect yourself, respect others, respect the school. If disruptive or negative behavior occurs, the following steps will be followed: 1. Verbal warning and/or name on the board. 2.  = Sent to a different seat in the classroom or staying after class. 3.  = Sent to another classroom for the period with assignment, parental contact 4. When a student has been sent to another classroom a second time, he/she will need to complete a behavior contract with the teacher, parents will be contacted 5. When a student has been sent out of the classroom three times, the student will be reassigned to a different class period. Fighting, harassment, challenging teacher authority, or using profane language will result in immediate removal from class and will be dealt with according to district policy and may result in reassignment to a different class. Classroom Rules & Procedures: Electronic Devices Electronic Devices: NO CELL PHONES!!!!! Willowcreek Middle School’s Policy applies. Electronic devices such as cell phones, i-pods, etc. are not permitted in the school. If such items are out in class they will be taken away and subsequently dropped off at the front office. It is the responsibility of the student or parent to pick up the electronic devise at the front office. Please Initial_____________

Classroom Rules & Procedures: Tardy Policy Tardy Policy: The school’s tardy policy will be followed. In accordance with WMS policy a student is considered tardy if they are not in the classroom when the bell rings. Warm-ups, quizzes or self-starters cannot be made up due to tardies. If the student is not in their seat when the bell rings, even if they are in the room, they will be given an “unprepared to learn” violations. Their citizenship grades will be dropped after the third unprepared to work violation.

Classroom Rules & Procedures: Walkaways Following the policy at Willowcreek Middle School, all students will be expected to pass WalkAways (tests used to assess student comprehension of State World Geography/Civilizations Standards). In order for a student to pass a Walkaway they must achieve at least an 80% or higher. If you do not show mastery on the test you will receive an “I” until mastery is proven.

Classroom Rules & Procedures: Walkaways In order to retake a Walkaway all assignments for that unit must be completed and turned in. Understand that you will keep your original score on the Walkaway, but your grade will be overridden to show passing of the Walkaway. This will be done by adding 0.9% to the original score. Any time you see a walkaway score that has .9 at the end – you know you have passed it. For example: John takes a walkaway and scores 33%. He receives an “I” grade. He must complete his remediation and then retake the walkaway. The second time John takes the Walkaway, he scores 80%. John has now passed that walkaway so his “I” grade is removed and 0.9% is added to his score – which becomes 33.9% In order to pass the class, all Walkaways must be passed. If you have passed all of your Walkaways by the end of the term – the LOWEST grade you can receive is a D-.

Classroom Rules & Procedures: Late Work Policy Homework is generally corrected in class the day it is due; therefore, late work will not be given full credit. Due Date: The due date is the day the assignment is due for full credit. Dead Date: The dead date is the absolute last day that the assignment can be turned in for half credit (at most). Work is considered late if the student is present in class and does not hand in the assignment on the due date, or as the teacher collects it. Completion of all late work for students not in attendance on the due date is the responsibility of the student. Students should turn in late work on the next school day. Late work will not be accepted the last week of the term Quality of Work- if your work is not done neatly, it will not be accepted. If I can’t read it, I can’t grade it. All work needs to have a name, period #, title, and date. If you do not have your name on your assignments they will not be graded. Please Initial____________
