What is a Crew Chief 1 – An Active 2 – The Referee 3 - An Organizer
# 1 – An Active Official # 2 – The Referee - Knowledgeable in the Rules of Track & Field - Knowledgeable in STTO Expectations - Guidelines for: Concussion & Lightning # 2 – The Referee - Able to make decisions on those Rules (Doesn’t Have to be the Starter Should be in the Proximity of the Meet Heartbeat)
# 3 – An Organizer Pre-Meet – Be Ready for Check-ins: Have with you: - Make sure all on your Crew calls in - Directions to School - Meet Start Time –arrive ½ hour before - What areas will need covering – contact host school Be Ready for Carpooling / Arrange Rides Be ready for Probie Assignments - Know if it is a Billed or Voucher or Steve paid meet Have with you: Accident Forms - Misconduct Form Coaches Evaluation Sheets Crew Chief Evaluation Forms (These are all on our Website)
Arriving at the Meet The Sheet – What a Crew Chief should do & ask (on our website) Walk the Track Re-confirm what event areas we are covering Tablet use? Verticals – Start Heights & Increments Horizontals - # of Attempts – Open Pits or Trials & Finals Uniform / Jewelry Rules Helpers for Field & Track Announce Field Event Check-ins 10 Minutes before first Track Event is called
After the Meet While at the Meet – - Thank all Coaches & Helpers - Check with Officials for Problems/ Issues/Concerns - Sign Probie Sign-Off Sheets – if appropriate - Remind Carpool Drivers to call/e-mail Steve On the Way Home or When you get home – - Call Steve Baxtyer – concerns, issues, mileages, number schools in attendance, fee charged - Prepare any Evaluation Sheets and send to Linda Campbell
