Documentation of Multiplication Facts (5’s and 10’s) Miss Brinkley’s 3rd Grade Math Class Documentation of Multiplication Facts (5’s and 10’s)

Analysis: The class averages improved from the pre test to the final test for the 5 and 10 multiplication facts. The students’ performances varied between the homework and quiz scores throughout the grading period. I was able to interpret what the students were struggling with by looking at individual scores. This helped me re evaluate my teaching techniques and how I can tweak them to help all students learn the objectives to the fullest. Some of the students’ main issue was their homework grade, I decided that I could give them more class time to work on their assignments. This can help improve their test grades because the students need to keep practicing their skills outside the class room. A lot of students were slacking because they would forget to do their homework or were still struggling with the concepts. This extra class time also gives the students a better opportunity to ask me questions and other peers while they are on working on the topic. Some students do not have the chance to stay after school for extra help.

Analysis continued: I also thought that the students would do a much better job completing assignments if they were rewarded with something other than good grades. When a child has done 90% or better on the homework I will let them have fifteen minutes of preferred activity time in class. The rest of the class will have to finish their homework/ correct it and this opens up a chance to ask me more questions. While giving me opportunity to see what concepts a child is still struggling with.
