Gather The Lord be with you And also with you

The Bishop Justus Virtues As part of being able to talk about our Bishop Justus community, this term’s worship will focus on our six virtues, which are an important part of who we are. This week we will explore the virtue of love.

The Bishop Justus Virtues Faith Hope Love Wisdom Courage Kindness

Receive (today’s Bible reading) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, verses 4-7 New International Version (NIV)

Explore The virtue of love As St. Paul said, we can have the strongest faith, and have the greatest of knowledge, but without love we are nothing. Love enables both the individual and the community to flourish. Therefore, love is our greatest virtue. For discussion: What does ‘Christian love’ mean to you?

Explore During worship this week, please explore the virtue of love. Here are some ideas for discussions to help you understand the importance of love to our community. You might want to make a display or poster on your tutor group notice board. What does the virtue of ‘Christian love’ actually mean? Does it serve a purpose? Is enough love shown in the world today and do we need more (if so, how can this be achieved)? Is it possible for world leaders and commercial businesses to show love? As the Bishop Justus community, how can we show the Christian virtue of love? (your tutor could pass ideas to your learning director or the Chaplain)

Respond (this week’s prayer) Heavenly Father, We remember the words of John, who said ‘God is love. Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in them.’ We ask Lord that you show us the way to put love into everything we do, including our work and actions at school. Amen

Go   Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God
