How do you go from this to this?

Revolutionary Manifesto! Words can convince people to do anything! Thomas Paine wrote words that convinced colonists to join the revolution and fight England.

“These are the times that try men’s souls.” What does this mean? “These are the times that try men’s souls.” It is very difficult to live right now, times are tough.

Group Roles Recorder: Writes translation and names on your handout Presenter: Presents your answer to the class Question Answerer: Defends your translation Typer: Types answers on slide

What does this mean? “Those who want to reap the benefits of this great nation must bear the fatigue of supporting it.” If we want to get freedom, we have to fight although it is difficult. We have responsibility to support others.

“If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately.” What does this mean? “If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately.” Translation – if we don’t come together now, we will never be one. We should hang together

What does this mean? “If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.” Translation-He meant that better take part in the war, then make your children and future to starve from the tyrany of the crown.

What does this mean? “The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.” Translation

“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.” What does this mean? “Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.” Translation – Unconditional force is not easily controlled. However, we should struggle to fight against them.

“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” What does this mean? “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” The more we struggle, the better we will feel when we win.
