How to write a story

Plot Diagram Plan Your Story Initial Incident

First you have to….. Decide who the characters are. Who is going to be in the story? What sort of characters are they?

Next consider ….. Where and when your story is going to take place. This is called the setting. Past? Present ? Future?

Time for the Problem…. What is going to happen in your story? What is the main event? What type of story is it?

Include Important Events A summary of what happens in the story. The events in the story This is known as the plot.

Finally ….the Solution How it all ends. The problem is solved. What type of ending? Happy? Sad?

Think about …… These will help you to know ….. Who? Where? When? What? Why? These will help you to know …..

Today: Begin an Outline Create a plot diagram and start planning your story Think about the conflict and the resolution (don’t forget that your story has to end logically) After your plot diagram has approved, you may begin writing your first draft!
