The Lord is Not Ashamed of His Brethren Hebrews 2:11, 11:16

Ashamed To be embarrassed or disgraced Very few like to be ashamed Usually it means we have done something wrong Or someone has acted shamefully

Ashamed There are times we ought to be ashamed – sin, improper actions, shameful brethren, an ungodly world There are times we should not be ashamed – 1 Peter 4:16, 2 Timothy 1:8

Ashamed But more than these, ought to be the desire that the Lord not be ashamed of us. Hebrews 2:11 – He is not ashamed to call us brethren Hebrews 11:16 – God was not ashamed

They believe what He says He is not ashamed because: They believe what He says We need faith - Hebrews 11:6 Faith is believing God and trusting Him John 1:12-13 – as many as received Him, He gave THE RIGHT to become children of God John 3:36 – believe and obey Matthew 7:21-23, Luke 6:46 James 2:17-18, 24

He is not ashamed because: They do good and share With such sacrifices He is well pleased - Hebrews 13:16 Cf. Philippians 4:18 – their support was a “sweet smelling aroma…” Matthew 10:42 – a cup of cold water If God is pleased with our actions, He is not ashamed

They repent when they need to He is not ashamed because: They repent when they need to We are to remain faithful as Christians When we stumble we must repent – Acts 8:22-24, 1 John 1:9 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 – repentance described

They repent when they need to He is not ashamed because: They repent when they need to God is not ashamed when we return to Him – cf. Luke 15:20-24, 7 & 10 Some see God as vengeful and uncaring, but He wants all to be saved – 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:3-4 BUT He will not force anyone!

They openly confess Him He is not ashamed because: They openly confess Him To openly profess something or someone Matthew 10:32-33 It applies to those obeying the gospel - Romans 10:9-10, Acts 8:37 It applies to His disciples throughout their lives – an ongoing confession

They openly confess Him He is not ashamed because: They openly confess Him Many fail to confess Him – John 12:42-43 Peter’s failure – Luke 22:54-62 Philippians 2:10-11, every tongue WILL confess Him Even in the troubling times – Revelation 12:10-12, Mathew 16:25

He is not ashamed because: They remain faithful We cannot quit on Him – Matthew 10:22, Revelation 2:10 Endurance – Hebrews 10:36-39 2 Timothy 1:12, 4:6-8, Paul’s confidence because of his faithfulness 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident to be absent from the body and present with the Lord

They are not ashamed of Him He is not ashamed because: They are not ashamed of Him Luke 9:25-26 Not ashamed of the gospel – Romans 1:16 Philippians 1:20-21, no matter what happened to him, Paul would not be ashamed

When you stand before Him, will He be ashamed of you?
