Systems of Nonlinear Equations Objectives: Solve a system of nonlinear equations using substitution Solve a system of nonlinear equations using elimination

System of Nonlinear equations in two variables The system contains at least one equation that is not linear. The graphs can be circles, parabolas, hyperbolas or anything other than two lines. As with linear systems in two variables, the solution of a nonlinear system (if there is one) corresponds to the intersection point(s) of the graphs. Extraneous solutions can creep in when solving nonlinear systems, so it is imperative that all apparent solutions be checked. By graphing each equation in the system, you can get an idea of how many solutions a system has and approximately where they are located. System of Nonlinear equations in two variables
