Physical & Chemical Changes

Physical Changes A Physical Change is when an object changes a physical property. A change in size, shape, texture, or state. The object still is the same thing.

Examples of Physical Changes Ripped Paper Boiling Water Cutting Hair Broken Brick

Chemical Changes A Chemical Change is a change in the chemical make up of the object. The object becomes a new object. Something new is created.

Keys to Identifying a Chemical Change Color change Temperature change Formation of a gas, bubbles, or odor. Formation of a precipitate.

Examples of Chemical Changes Fireworks exploding An apple rotting Baked cookies

Is It a Physical or Chemical Change? Burning House Chemical Melting Ice Physical Cutting Grass
