They learn when they: Explore Discover Imagine Interact Problem Solve  Play opens the mind to discovery and builds knowledge through life experiences!   Curiosity is the seed of learning. It must be nurtured and fed in order to grow!  Before and after school care Full-time and part-time childcare 7 am-6:00 pm Come Play, Learn, Explore, and more! Balance is freedom & structure combined! Special Events The Tumblebus comes every Wednesday at 2:30pm. The kids love having fun and exercising! Stretch-N-Grow comes every Thursday morning at 9:30am. Date Nights are a regular occurrence, so on a Saturday night, parents can go out while we watch the kids! Our goal is to provide guidance, in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment, for children who are 2 months through 10 years old.

Teachers Daily Activities Schedule About Seeds of Knowledge Seeds of Knowledge offers preschool and daycare for ages 4 months to 10 years of age. We are a registered daycare ministry of Floyds Knobs Christian Church. Our curriculum has a primary emphasis on the individual child. Our classrooms are center-based with new activities and lessons planned regularly. Rooms are designed so that children have numerous choices within an environment of maximum learning. Teachers act primarily as facilitators encouraging a strong partnership between the home and the daycare. Seeds of Knowledge is designed for children to explore newly found independence. Through individualized prescribed instruction, they engage in stimulating activities led by skilled and trained Lead Teachers. During their day, children take part in “hands-on” social interactions, physical activity, preschool, arts, crafts, and dramatics which build on their individual character. While under careful guidance and direction, the children are given opportunities to express themselves and to be creative through active learning. We have prepared organized “imagination stations” that are developmentally appropriate for them to interact freely with peers and designed for team development in a diverse setting. Teachers My name is Annie Shearer and I am the Director of Seeds of Knowledge. Seeds of Knowledge was previously run under the name Play 4 Hours. Play 4 Hours opened in October of 2007 and I took ownership in January 2010. My background includes extensive training, experience, and passion for children to learn in a nurturing environment. I graduated from Purdue University in December of 2007, with a Bachelors of Art degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I taught 2nd grade in Noblesville, IN. Although I loved the elementary aged kids, my dream has always been to own my own preschool/daycare! I worked at Play 4 hours for nearly 2 years before being offered to take over the business. It is my goal to create and implement activities beneficial to each child’s learning. I strive to meet the needs of all of the students. I also understand learning can be a difficult task at this young age, and believe all children should be supported in their abilities to learn. Children are unique in their own ways, and are shaped by everyday experiences. It is important to me to make these experiences not only fun, exciting, and educational, but also inspire them to ascend in the steps of learning. All teachers are trained and certified in First Aid and CPR. Each of them are involved in the community and have several years experience working with and caring for children of all ages. We will continue to grow professionally through further education and training with the help of my staff and the community. Daily Activities Schedule Upon Arrival (7am-9am) - Welcome friends/teachers and have free choice activities. Breakfast - Served until 9am. The mornings are designated for preschool activities that enhance listening skills and fine and gross motor skills. In addition, children will learn as they have fun with circle time, shared reading, art, singing songs, and exploring the outdoors. Preschool (9am-11am) – Students are assessed and placed into classrooms based on their age and/or skill level. Each classroom is set up and designed to meet the need of each and every child. We have two curriculums; one designed for the toddlers, and one designed for the 4-5 year olds. I am confident with these curriculums, your child will be ready for kindergarten when the time comes! Lunch - Served between 11 am and 12 pm. Nap Time (12pm-2:00pm) – This time is used for all children to relax and have down time. For those children who do not nap, they are taken into a separate room and are allowed a movie at this time. *All babies have their own crib. All older children have their own cot which is placed in their classroom during nap time. Snack - Served between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm. The afternoons are designated for structured and self-guided activities with peers. They will participate in: outside time, pretend play, games, art, story time, dress-up, and more. After School – These children will be dropped off around 2:30 pm, and immediately go into the kitchen for snack. They will then go upstairs to their room and complete any homework with one of the teachers. When homework is complete, these kids will do an activity or craft before ending the day with free time.
