Are you ready for the literature test? I hope so.

Oh boy, I hope this test isn’t too hard…

Good morning boys and girls. I will now begin to pass out the tests.

Elena, are you talking during a test?! Oh… Yeah, I was just thinking of an ans- Is something wrong with her? Olivia, are you okay? Elena, are you talking during a test?!

I guess I was talking during a test, but it was for a good reason I guess I was talking during a test, but it was for a good reason. Wasn’t it?

SHE’S LYING! She did answer me. Elena, talking during a test is unacceptable. I’m not accusing you of cheating, but I still have to punish you for breaking the rules – no talking during a test… Um…Yes, but I was just asking Olivia if she was okay. She looked like she might be sick, and I was done with my test, just about to turn it in. No. We’ll talk about it after lunch. Olivia, did you answer her?

I’ve never gotten a detention before. I’m a good student. Is Mrs. Taylor really going to give me a detention? She can’t…

I’m sorry. I know that you’re a good student, Elena, but if I let you get away with talking during a test, everyone will think they can do the same. I can’t believe this…

Mrs. Taylor was right. I broke the rules, and I had to be punished for that. Other people might lie, but the right thing to do is to take responsibility for my actions. I’ll serve my detention tomorrow… But if I had to do it all over again, I would still ask Olivia if she was okay. If I think someone needs my help, I am going to try to help them, no matter what.
