Facts Black Caiman habitat It lives along slow- moving rivers, lakes, seasonally flooded savanna's of the amazon basin, and other freshwater habitats in South America.

Facts Caiman diet They are carnivorous reptiles. They are the largest predators in the amazon ecosystem, eating small fish, frogs, and invertabrates such as, crustaceans and insects. They sometimes eat bigger fish like piranha, catfish, and perch.

Endangered Because Once common, they were hunted to near extinction primarily for its commercially valuable hide. It is now making a comeback.
