What is recognizing extraneous information It is important in your reading and answering problems to recognize important information. It is also very important to recognize information that you don’t need in the passage or question. That is what extraneous means in recognizing extraneous information.

recognizing extraneous information in questions Some questions have information that you don’t need, and that is what the extraneous part is in questions. Some questions have extraneous information. They are usually in word problems. It can be in any subject that has problems that you can do, and it can be about any thing you want it to be. Here is a story where you will have questions, you need to answer the questions and highlight the extraneous information, and highlight the extraneous information in the short story.

The Fish Factory Once upon a time their was a little boy who love to go after school and look through the window of all the wonderful different types of fish. The man who owned the shoe store next to him loved the golden gold fish. The boy always loved to go and feed the fish. He saw all kinds of fish, every color, every size, and every shape. So every day he would try a different type of fish to feed, their were so many fish that he couldn’t remember which one he had to feed next. So every day he would ask the shoe man if he could get some shoes THE END

Questions??????????? Now,, in a real story or book they try not to have extraneous information in the story. But in word problems there is lots of information that you don’t need, so look carefully.

Word problem The little boy went to the fish store. He bought a load of fish, and he loves the fish store. Then he set them all off into the ocean. Does this man have any fish left in the fish store?

Random Now, some is very tricky to find in the passage, but some are totally random like this chicken and this cow. Those are usually when the question wants you to find it, but ones that are very tough, can be very tricky.

Recognizing extraneous information is very Difficult in some stories. Here is a story that you will read in buckle down so get those out, you will need a highlighter and a pencil to answer these questions. You have to get up into groups of 4 and one group of 3. You will have to highlight all the extraneous information in the story. Then we will answer all the questions together, then when we complete all the questions, everyone gets a special treat when the lesson is over.If you really have a question then you are to ask me. The questions will be up on the board for us after you Read the story.
