Your Total Health What is Health?

What is Health Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional and social well being. Physical health involves the condition of your body Mental/Emotional health involves your thoughts and emotions. Emotions are feelings such as love, joy and fear. Social health involves the ways in which you relate to other people.

Your Physical Health Taking care of your body by Eating a well balanced diet Exercising regularly Sleeping eight hours each night Keeping your body, teeth and hair clean Regular medical and dental check ups Avoiding Tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

Your Mental/Emotional Health Ways to stay Mentally and emotionally healthy Facing problems with a positive and realistic attitude Expressing your feelings clearly and calmly to others Setting priorities See mistakes as opportunities for improvement Recognize and try to improve your weak areas

Your Mental/Emotional Health Ways to stay Mentally and emotionally healthy Develop effective decision making skills Use your talents effectively Accept responsibilities for your actions Stand up for your beliefs and values Be open to learning new information

The Mind-Body Connection The mind-body connection describes how your emotions affect your physical and overall health and how your overall health affects your emotions.
