Shift Key & Period Notes

Left Shift Key The left shift key is keyed with the A home key (left pinky) and is used to capitalize keys controlled with the right hand.

Right Shift Key The right shift key is keyed with the semi-colon home key (right pinky) and is used to capitalize keys controlled with the left hand.

CAPS Lock Key The caps lock key is used to type a series of letters, like a TITLE.  You would not depress the caps lock key just to capitalize one letter.  To depress a key, means to push, press, or hold down.   The caps lock key is struck with the A home key.

Location of Shift Keys & Caps Lock

The Period The period is located on the bottom row and is struck with the L home key.  If a period is used at the end of the sentence then you should space two times after the period.  If a period is used with an abbreviation or initials (ft. or T. H. L.) then you would only space one time after the period.

Tab Key The Tab Key is used to indent; usually the beginning of a paragraph. Pressing the Tab key equals 5 spaces. This key is struck with the left pinky (A finger).
