IPC do now Critical Thinking Answer the following question in 1 paragraph. No paragraph no credit. What is wrong with this statement: We should not be concerned with the extinction of certain species of animals. They will just adapt and evolve in order to survive.

Do now: Use the following words in your answer Offspring, frequency of alleles, population Some organisms have genes that improve their ability to survive and reproduce. If the genes also help their offspring survive and reproduce, then which of the following will most likely increase? The frequency of genes in one individual The frequency of genes in the population The number of genes in one chromosome The number of genes in the species

wednesday, January 11 Assign Yourself Finish Critical Thinking Question Due Tomorrow Take Out Materials Biorganizer – Cornell Notes page 86 Title: Evidence of Common Ancestry

Question: What is evidence of common ancestry? Answer: Evidence of common ancestry is fossil records, homologies, biogeography, and gradualism.

Expand The fossil record, is the accumulation of all fossilized remains that scientists have collected around the world. Homologies are similarities in anatomical structure, gene sequences, developmental stages, or any other criteria that point to a common ancestor. Biogeography is the study of past and present geographical distribution of species. Gradualism is the idea that evolution occurs gradually. Changes or adaptations appear slowly and sequentially over time.

heck Yes/No Way (Choral Responses) The fossil record, is the accumulation of all textbooks in the world. The fossil record, is the accumulation of all fossilized remains that scientists have collected around the world. Fossils can give clues about how organisms changed over time. Scientists study the similarities and differences in bones, shell shapes, or other features over time. A likeness between the bone structure of one creature and that of another may indicate a common ancestor. Continental drift, the breaking apart and movement of continents from one massive landform named “Pangaea," explains why many species evolved into new species.
