-29 + (-4) Activator: Take out your packet. Calculate mentally, no talking, no writing, no calculator -29 + (-4)

On pg. 165, create an equation for Problem Set #3 Take out your packet. On pg. 165, create an equation for Problem Set #3 t = 10 + 5w or t = 5w + 10 What we saved each week. What we started with

Objective(s) : I will be able to: analyze an equation in two variables, choose an independent variable and a dependent variable So that I can: make a table make a graph for the equation by plotting the points in the table. I will know I got it when I can complete at least 3 out of 4 real world problems independently or with my partner with at least 80% accuracy. 6.EE.B.5 and 6.EE.B.8 Objective(s) :

Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing to communicate the academic math language of equations with two variables –dependent and independent variables. They will verbally analyze equations with two variables, choose an independent and a dependent variable, and write/make a table and graph the equation by plotting the points in the table. They will show their understanding by completing 3 out of 4 real-world problems independently or with a partner with 80% accuracy. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: equation, variable, dependent, independent, table, value, plot, graph.

Notes: Generally, - the independent variable is along the x-axis. - the dependent variable is along the y-axis (the x-axis is the horizontal   axis) (the y-axis is the vertical [up & down] axis) dependent variable independent variable

Pg. 165 : #3 I do Independent variable: Dependent variable: Number of weeks (w) Total amount saved in dollars (t) # of weeks (w) Total saved in $ (t) 10 1 15 2 20 25 3 4 30 5 35 6 40 7 45 8 50 # of weeks (w)

Pg. 165 : #4 we do… The total cost in dollars depends on how many pounds of apples are bought. Therefore, the total cost in dollars is the dependent variable, and the # of pounds of apples is the independent variable. T= 1.50a + 10
