Table of Contents What is Dual Enrollment? How does Dual Enrollment work? Benefits of Dual Enrollment Are you ready for Dual Enrollment?

Dual enrollment Dual enrollment program allows high school students (9th-12th grade) to earn college credit while working on their high school diploma. There are more than 200,000 courses currently on the approved course list which will help to increase college access and completion and career readiness.

How does Dual Enrollment work? Advisement must be given to all students grades 8-12 regarding DE Students must apply and be accepted to the post- secondary institution they wish to attend Students will need to complete a participation agreement each semester Students enrolling in DE courses through University System of Georgia (USG) and Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) will not pay any tuition or mandatory fees; books will be provided Learning & Leadership Services

How does DE work? There may be course specific fees, such as lab fees, that will still be the responsibility of the student Courses taken through DE will not impact HOPE Eligibility or the amount of HOPE money that a student receives Students taking at least 12 semester hours or 15 quarter hours are considered full time DE students and will not need additional classes at their home school Satisfactory academic progress (SAP) is required to continue participating in DE

Benefits Increases exposure to college-level classes while still in high school Allows students with specific goals (academic or career) greater flexibility to attain those goals May provide an easier transition from high school to college Reduced costs to the student and/or families: covers tuition, mandatory fees, and required textbooks Students receive both high school and post-secondary credit at the same time (i.e. some will be eligible to earn an Associate’s degree, technical diploma or two certificates in one specific career pathway)

Benefits Students can attend multiple colleges/universities There are no residency requirements Students can participate in any high school extracurricular activity even if they are fulltime DE DE Courses meet the Academic Rigor requirement and are given a .5 weight for the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships

Are you ready for DE? Consider the following: Are you self-motivated? Are you proactive in completing assignments and studying? Are you diligent in reporting to class? Are you a independent learner? Are you able to communicate with your teachers/instructors, independently of your parents? Are you proactive in keeping up with school events/activities? Are you able to maintain positive academic behavior while involved in extracurricular activities?
