Safe2Say Something This program launches on January 14, 2019. DCIU’s Core team was trained to receive test tips starting January 14. Our Core Team will be the individuals to respond via the online system. School-based teams will support the interventions and assessments of tips.

S2SS – HW does it work? Step 2: S2SS Statewide Process & Protocol 11_85 Life Safety Tips are delivered 24/7 via phone call, email and text to SENDING A CHILD’S ADDRESS AND HOME PHONE TO 911 DISPATCH VIA THE S2SS PLATFORM IS THE NUMBER ROLE FOR SCHOOL-BASED TEAMS WITH LIFE SAFETY TIPS Inform you as to what is walking in your school the next day OAG, Dispatch and School on same platform viewing the same information Non-life safety tips are sent to the districts between 6AM-6PM daily 5

WHAT are the anticipated reporting rates? 12_85 3%-6% of population trained will submit a tip once all students are trained and receive sustained updates - the number of tips in the first 48-72 hours will be run higher then flatten out Approximately 40-60% will be Life Safety Tips of which 10-15% will be very serious Suicide, suicide ideation, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, school violence, bullying/cyber-bullying and gang violence will likely be your top tip submissions Hoax or false claims are less than ½ of 1% -- with most being in-actionable submissions such as “clowns have red hair” Based on 8 years of data 95% o tips come in during the school year 6

WHAT are the anticipated reporting rates? 12_85 Assume 4,000 middle and high schoolers in 3 buildings The approximate number of tips in a 180 day school year if students were trained and program is regularly promoted: Total Tips: 200 (Chose 5%) Total Life Safety: 100 (Chose 50%) Total Serious Life Safety: 15 (Chose 15%) Total Non-Life Safety: 100 Total Life / Non-Life Tips .370 tips per building or Per Building Per Day: ~1 tip across all schools 7

WHO owns the data? HOW is Anonymity Broken? All tip data is owned by the school system / district with student information being protected via state and federal laws If a tipster is suicidal / in crisis, state and federal laws allow anonymity to be broken (if feasible) to protect the well-being and safety of the individual (occurs <1/2% of all tips) If an individual abuses the system or breaks a state or federal law, the school system / district can request a court order to TRY and uncover anonymity. Note: we will NOT break anonymity without a court order – there are no exceptions 8

Processes and Protocols All inappropriate photos, videos will NOT be sent to districts / schools until local police are notified. Any life safety tips NOT associated with the school system / district, will be sent to the associated 911Dispatch. Any youth tip received that involves sexual harassment, rape and/or sexual assault will have the name redacted and shared with school admin/superintendent only. In the case of alleged rape or assault, the tip will be shared with police dispatch/school admin and superintendent. If a tip is a hoax/spam, we will not forward the tip. OAG Crisis Center will change the event type to hoax/spam, send a warning statement to the tipster, close the tip.

IMPORTANT: OAG Handoff Statement After you confirm receipt of the tip via verbal intake, the OAG Crisis Center will post a handoff statement communicating that tip ownership is officially transferred to the school team and dispatch This ensures proper responsibility and ensures any confusion between the OAG Crisis Center, School, Dispatch and/or Tipster The Crisis Center will monitor updates and contact you if there is information, etc they believe you should act upon 11
