Breaking News The highwayman Bess tied up. 25th September 1976 By Joe weller The highwayman Bess tied up. Devastating and heart braking incidents have recently took place in the tiny village of Goostrey, which has left other villages/people fearful. Three nights ago, a local Highwayman and his lady were tragically on the wrong end of a musket. Since that day, they have both been seen in ghostly form. The Highwayman, who arrived on a stallion, was dressed in a dark cloak, he came clattering and clashing on a cobbled caught yard. He did this to try and get Bess’ attention. According to Tim the Ostler (an eye witness), it is alleged that the Highwayman, whose real name has not yet been confirmed, was riding through the cobbled courtyard of the local pub, The Crown, where an onlooker reported seeing the Highwayman tapping on the window secretly trying to attract Bess. Bess then makes a decision with a musket to pull the trigger, she did this to warn the Highwayman. He heard the gunshot, but didn’t think anything of it, later that day, there was a bit of gossiping going on about the gunshot. Loads of people were saying it was Bess. He raced to his stallion got on it then raced even quicker to try and leech to Bess. Unfortunately the red coats saw him, boom he was dead. It is reported that on a Sunday, when there is wind in the trees, you can see the images of Bess and the Highwayman in ghostly form. The highwayman was riding up to the old inn door, over the cobbled path he rode trying to seek Bess. As he looked up into the window he saw Bess plaiting her hair. Then, he whipped his horse, turned and ran off into the darkness. Meanwhile, a man, whose face was as pale as the moonlight, was concealed behind a stable wicked door. He was stalking if you like, nobody knew he was there, but one thing everyone did know is that this man was jealous because this man was Tim the Ostler and this man was in love with Bess.
