Science Week at a Glance 3rd Grade Science Week at a Glance Week of: February 25th – March 1st What’s Happening This Week Vocabulary Words Atmosphere: The layer of gases that surround Earth Oxygen: A gas in the air and water, which most living things need to survive Temperature: A measure of how hot or cold something is Weather: What is happening in the atmosphere at a certain place and time Wednesday – Snack sales Thursday – PJ Day $1.00 Friday – Hat Day $1.00 Objectives Define and explain the term weather. Explain that the sun is the source of energy that drives the water cycle. Explain that the atmosphere is made up of the air that surrounds Earth. Describe various types of severe weather. Describe how to measure specific weather conditions: wind direction, air temperature, amount of precipitation, and type of precipitation. A Note from Mrs. Ansley Unit 8 Test will be on Friday. Study guides will go home on Wednesday. Spring Break is next week!!
