More to Learn Different data types Data types provided by Microsoft Access. Text It can be characters or numbers. e.g. ‘01 Tai Tong Road’. Each English character or number occupies one byte but each Chinese character occupies two bytes. Number It is numeric data which can be used in mathematical calculation. e.g. 12345. Date/Time It represents date or time values. The value of year ranges from 100 to 9999. e.g. ‘11/12/2006’.

AutoNumber Whenever a new record is added to a table, a unique sequential ascending number or a random number will be assigned to identify each record.
