Environmental Solutions Division

Prologue Genesis Our Environmental solutions could be used for: Environmental Solutions division was started in 2008 with a focus on offering comprehensive solutions to growing Environmental problems. Our Environmental solutions could be used for: Management of Industrial and Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plants Municipal Solid Waste management River Surface and Ghat Cleaning Lake Bioremediation Fly ash management in Power Plants

Management of Industrial and Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plants Our proprietary product, Fermsept®-S has been successfully demonstrated in Indian Municipal STPs for better plant performance power savings up to 60% treated water quality as per pollution control board norms reduced CAPEX/OPEX etc. Power optimization and malodor removal. Tied up with leading European technology providers for specialized products and services in water & waste water treatment

Power savings in STPs by using Fermsept-S STP : Main electricity consumption is for aeration. About 60- 70% of total electricity is on account of aeration system Fermsept-S helps in reducing electricity consumption up to 30-40% as it works under optimum oxygen concentration by switching off aeration system Fermsept –S works under reduced oxygen levels as it is a mix of facultative anaerobic organisms Fermsept-S also reduces COD and BOD levels to acceptable norms under Central Pollution Control Board NB - COD is Chemical Oxygen Demand. BOD is Biochemical Oxygen Demand. These are pollution Indicators in wastewater treatment, higher these values poorer is the quality of wastewater.

Major sites of Fermsept-S application and characteristics Nagpur Municipal Corporation- 100 MLD STP BOD levels were brought down to 9 mg/l at the outlet. COD levels were brought down to 30 mg/l at the outlet. Power consumption was reduced by 43.01% over a period of 3 months. Pune Municipal Corporation- 130 MLD STP BOD levels were brought down from 48 mg/l to 15 mg/l at the outlet. COD levels were brought down from 192 mg/l to 33 mg/l at the outlet. Power consumption was reduced by 33.14 % over a period of 3 months. Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board-30 MLD STP BOD levels were brought down to 4 mg/l at the outlet. COD levels were brought down to 33 mg/l at the outlet. Power consumption was reduced by 35% Governing Body Norms for COD/BOD BOD Norms : KSPCB – 20 mg/l, MPCB – 30 mg/l COD Norms: KSPCB - 250 mg/l, MPCB – 250 mg/l NB - COD is Chemical Oxygen Demand. BOD is Biochemical Oxygen Demand. These are pollution Indicators in wastewater treatment, higher these values poorer is the quality of wastewater.

Other Sites of Fermsept-S application Bangalore water supply and Sewerage Board- 180 MLD STP BOD levels were brought down to 18 mg/l at the outlet. Tumkur City Corporation-25 MLD STP Entire Sewage is treated in one lagoon instead of two designed lagoons with treated BOD under 20 mg/l. Mysore City Corporation-60 MLD STP Significant reduction in power consumption. Septic Tanks of SOS Children Villages across India Need of constructing new STP was eliminated by using product in Septic tanks. Lakes and Waterways Development Authority Srinagar-5 MLD STP The water quality parameters were improved even in freezing conditions. Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) – Septic Tank Project FBL has successfully conducted pilot application of Fermsept-S in septic tanks of MCGM

Municipal Solid Waste management Cost effective solution for management of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Proprietary product, FERMSEPT®-M specifically formulated with extra efficiency for solid waste composting process with enriched compost. The product helps in environmental protection, malodor removal and better degradation of organic waste. Improves recovery of compost

Municipal Solid Waste composting using Fermsept-M Pilot application of Fermsept-M at one of the MSW processing sites in South India Following were the results: Achieved superior quality compost. More recovery of compost than conventional way. Obnoxious odor was reduced drastically. Conversion time of waste to compost reduced to 30 days Municipal Solid Waste composting using Fermsept-M

River Surface and Ghat Cleaning FBL’s technology of River restoration include following steps; Arresting the entry of all floating solid wastes into River at all inlet point using Containment boom: The trash booms are available with a flexible PVC, sturdy belting or a screen construction Trash barriers can reduce the cost of expensive cleanup and easy removal of debris II. Cleaning of floating trash from the river surface using Trash skimming machines Trash skimmer machine can be used for clean up floating debris from harbours rivers It can easily retrieve wide variety of manmade and organic floating debris III. Ghats / Street Cleaning near the river Ghats / street cleaning is done with specialized equipment ideally suited to heavy-duty outdoor surface cleaning These machines have an extraordinary capacity to go on and off all kinds of sidewalks. River Surface and Ghat Cleaning

Lake Bioremediation– In Situ Cleaning The concept of lake remediation and restoration comprises of four elements which will reduce BOD, Nitrogen and large amount of phosphorus loads: Element 1: Constructed wetland which works like a biological filter Element 2: Introduction of aeration system for infusion of an intensive oxygen supply Element 3: Continuous harvesting and removal of weeds & water hyacinth and further oxidation of organic sediment through state of the art technology Element 4: Introduction of phototrophic /heterotrophic bacteria to degrade the sludge effectively Lake Bioremediation– In Situ Cleaning

Fly Ash Management in Power Plants Ash disposal Problems and Issues Huge Requirement of Land: Requires large area for Ash Ponds for disposal and storage of Fly & Bottom Ash High Requirement of Water: Requires large quantities of water for disposal of Fly & Bottom Ash to Ash pond area. Heavy Metal Leachate: Storage of Fly & Bottom Ash in Ash ponds leads to Ground Water and River pollution Air Pollution : Generation and Transport of Fly Ash Leads to Air Pollution Fly Ash Management in Power Plants

Solutions to the Problems FBL has tied up with a leading European company to offer solutions for utilization and disposal of ash in a scientific and environment friendly manner. The advantages of our technology includes Storage Capacity of current ash ponds can be increased Safe disposal, evacuation and transportation of hazardous fly ash by treating it at site Saving huge quantities of water apart from reducing the air, surface water & ground water pollution

There would not be any heavy metal leachate problem The treated and stabilized ash can be used as landfill, soil conditioner and building material without any further processing There would not be any heavy metal leachate problem Revenue generation, water conservation and smooth running of thermal power plant The ash generated is treated at source of generation

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! HAVE A NICE DAY!
