Catalyze Concentrations Related to Oxygen Production By: Aman Singh, Robert Daley, and Will Boultinghouse

In catalyzing H2O2 does increased concentration of Catalyze ,@ 200 u/mL vs. 400 u/mL vs. 800 u/mL, speed the catalyzed reaction over 200 seconds observation time. The purpose of our experiment was to see how the concentration of catalase affected the speed at which H2O2 catalyzed. Using different catalase concentrations, H2O2, and water we measured how fast the H2O2 catalyzed. We recorded our results and found that 800 u/mL of catalase concentration provided the fastest rate of catalyzing. So we concluded that the higher the catalase concentration the faster the H2O2 catalyzes.

What We Found Out Has seen below in Figure 1, the enzyme concentration caused the Oxygen production to increase. The first run was conducted with the catalyze concentration of 200 u/mL. It yielded results of the y intercept, which is approximately 100 kPa that would mean a starting pressure of 100 kPa. The slope yielded from the 200 u/mL concentration, was approximately -0.003 kPa/s. These results were just a starting. On the second run, with 400 u/mL concentration, our results yielded an increase in the slope and pressure. The y intercept was approximately 102 kPa. Which was an increase from run one. The slope was 0.03 kPa/s. This was also an increase compared to run 1. On Run 3, with a concentration of 800u/mL the results yielded a y intercept of 102.7 kPa. This was also an increase from Runs 1 and 2. The slope for this approximately 0.075 kPa/s this was also an increase from Runs 1 and 2. With the analysis of the results, our hypothesis was proven correct.

Conclusion 200 u/mL of catalase concentration caused the H2O2 to catalyze the slowest, 400 u/mL of catalase concentration caused the H2O2 to catalyze faster, and 800 u/mL of catalase concentration caused the H2O2 to catalyze the fastest. In conclusion as evidenced by our graph in catalyzing H2O2 increased concentration of catalase does speed the catalyzed reaction over 200 seconds of observation time.
