1. Theo, the = god Lesson 3: Roots Example words: Theocracy, theology, atheist The root comes from Theos meaning God. There are lots of words including a few names such as Theodore and Theodora which mean “gift from God”, containing this root.

Geo = earth Lesson 3: Roots Example words: Geocentric, geochemistry, geography, geology The roots ge and geo meaning earth, soil, and ground are invaluable roots that can open doors to the land and the water. Geocentric = measuring from the center of the earth Geochemistry = science of the chemical composition of the earth’s crust Geography = science of the earth and its life Geology = history of the earth as recorded in the rocks

3. Helio = sun Lesson 3: Roots Example words: Heliocentric, heliolatry, heliosis, heliotherapy This root come from the Greek word Helios which means sun.
