Coaching model - GROW Goal – Where do you want to do? Reality – Where are you right now? Options/Obstacles – What is preventing you from getting there? Way Forward – What is one step you can commit to? How will I know you have done that?

Connecting with People and Teams People love to talk about themselves Ask questions! Think of the most productive team you’ve been a part of What are some of the characteristics of that team? Connecting is the most important part of group and team function Connections before content People will be more engaged and work will be more efficient People love to talk about themselves – ask questions What is their story? How did they end up in their current job or career path? What does your name mean? Where or how did you get your name? What was you first pet and their name? Where do you love to get a burger? Gallup questions from book are helpful These all are great questions for connecting both on individual basis or during team meetings What are some of the characteristics of the most productive team you’ve been a part of? Engaged, felt heard, open, honest, follow through, What Connecting is the most important part of group and team work so prioritize time for this at the beginning of each meeting – it will make the meeting more productive because you will have follow through and continuity from the members

Conflict Management Perspective on conflict Would you rather have a conflict or try to engage a disengaged staff member or person or participant? At least if there is conflict you know they have a pulse!

Stress Inoculation Imagine the most stressful situation or interaction What does it feel like? Is your heart beating faster? Do you feel shaky? Do you feel flushed? Is it hot in the room? Put yourself in that situation… Now, practice your responses while you are aware of these feelings and physiological responses What will you say? What does you voice sound like? (really speak out loud!) What does your body language look like? Is it open? Postured? This practice is helpful in changing how we respond physiologically to stressful situations and we can improve our responses.
