Step 1: Determine if Precertification is Required CignaforHCP.com > Log In > Useful Links > Precertification Policies While the new precertification website page is available without logging in, providers must log in to view a list of the services that require precertification. Step 2: Follow the right precertification process for the specific service After determining if the service requires precertification, providers can request precertification in a number of ways. For medications, request precertification through PromptPA. When our national ancillary providers manage precertification for medical procedures For certain services, we work with select national ancillary providers to manage the precertification process (and the administration of the services) for us. For these services, providers should contact the national ancillary provider directly to request precertification and procure services (e.g., eviCore healthcare for high-technology imaging). All of these national ancillary providers have dedicated phone numbers and websites to manage precertification requests and questions related to precertification. Providers can click the blue headers on the website of each ancillary provider to learn more about that relationship, including when and how to work with each of them. When our national ancillary providers don’t manage precertification for medical procedures, but do manage the medical services. For certain services, we work with select national ancillary providers to manage a network of providers or the administration of the services for us. Providers should first determine if the services require precertification (e.g., molecular labs); and if so, make any necessary precertification requests directly through Cigna. Providers can then leverage the national ancillary’s network of providers to refer their patients to or obtain in-network services from (e.g., dialysis or laboratory). Providers can also get information about national ancillaries that they must work through to procure certain materials for their patients (e.g., hearing aids).
