Conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. Conflict is what drives every story. There are usually multiple conflicts in each story with one being the MAIN conflict.

Individual vs. Character The individual has a conflict with one or more characters.

Individual vs. Self The individual has a physical or an inner mental or emotional conflict.

Individual vs. Society The individual as a conflict with a part of society (school, government, tradition etc).

Individual vs. Nature The individual has a conflict with an element of nature (storm, wild animal, cold etc).

Individual vs. Supernatural The individual has a conflict with an intangible force (fate, God, the supernatural etc).

Individual vs. Technology The individual has a conflict with a type of technology (robots, computers etc).

Protagonist vs. Antagonist the leading character or one of the major characters in a work of fiction. Examples: •Luke Skywalker •Batman Antagonist: a force that actively opposes or is hostile to the protagonist; an adversary Examples: •Darth Vader •The Joker
