L22: 22.1 The Body in Balance

QUESTION: Is it difficult to maintain a small amount of water at a constant temperature?

HYPOTHESIS? I believe…because…

PROCEDURE: Page 184-185 Your goal should be to maintain a constant temperature of 37 degrees. You can move our test tube from the ice to the flame as many times as necessary, but be sure to record your temperature at the end of every minute.

DATA: Elapsed Time (min): Temperature (C): 37 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

DATA: Use your results to construct a line graph: Label X-axis: Time (min) Label Y-axis: Temperature (C)

DATA ANALYSIS: 1. Did you have difficulty keeping the temperature at exactly 37 degrees Celsius? 2. What does the body do automatically to keep itself from getting too hot? 3. What does the body do automatically to keep itself from getting too cold?
