The Wasteful Heir Luke 15:11-19 Many do not know that “Prodigal” means “Wasteful”. Perhaps we are meant to see that this was the great sin – wasting the blessings of the father. How might we be guilty of the same?

Wasting His Father’s Livelihood The “prodigal” (wasteful) son is a Christian image His sins against his father - Loose (riotous) living - Wasting what his father labored to obtain - He devoured your wealth!

Wasting God’s Blessings Matthew 25:24-26 And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, “Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.” But his master answered and said to him, “You wicked, lazy slave” We are blessed as heirs with: Ability - How might you be wasting ability? Are you able to serve in the church but choosing not to?

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
