RESEARCH OBJECTIVES: To estimate the prevalence of self-medication practices among undergraduate public health students at Marodijeh International University. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional descriptive and quantitative study to estimate the level of self-medication among first and second year undergraduate Public Health students in Marodijeh International University during July and August 2017.

RESEARCH FINDINGS: Our study showed high prevalence of self-medication among public health students of Marodijeh International University in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The most commonly used medicines are pain relievers and the most common treated illnesses are cold and common infections. Pharmacies and friends were the main source of information for self- medication. Although most of the students have knowledge about the drugs, a few of them were aware of the risks of un-prescribed medicine and had read the drugs leaflets before they used it.
